Once Upon A Time, there lived a wonderful rat named Ace. He brought a special joy to his human, Ashley. He watched over her every night and even checked up on her as she slept. But like so many special beings, his life was too short. Heartbroken, his human could find little solace and cried herself to sleep for many nights after his passing. |

Before his passing, Ace's human had sent a little snip of his fur to me as a rememberance of Ace since I could not visit as I lived on the opposite side of the States. Ashley mentioned wanting a pendant that held a bit of his fur inside, perhaps rat shaped, during a conversation which I was a part of. When Ace passed away, Ashley was too distraught to look into finding such a pendant. |

Because I like challenges of this sort, i decided to find a rat figurine which I could use to cast a mold. But alas, no appropriate rat figurines could be found. Then i remembered the rat figurines made by Ratty Corner and commisioned her to make a tiny figurine of a rat sleeping as if cuddled against his person's chest so that i could make copies of it in clear resin. The model she made for me is truely a brilliant masterpiece of work. |

While I worked on perfecting the casting before I made my first pendant, I showed my progress to a small group of friends who I knew I could trust to keep the gift secret. Suddenly I was being asked if I could make a keepsake for them as well, along with a necklace since my gift included a necklace for Ashley to wear her pendant upon. I told them I would think about it but I had to finish the gift first. |

The gift was more than a success. After many tears of joy to be able to keep a part of her precious Ace close to her heart, Ashley began to heal and could begin to think of Ace again with a smile and remember the joy he gave her. I decided then that I would indeed make more keepsakes so that others could keep a little memory of their special rats close. |
